I checked out Everest after aida32 died. I thought it was sort of funny how it all happened.

First was the announcement that aida would stop being developed. Then there was the friendly, "well you might want to check out Everest for a replacement" link on the aida page. That was when I downloaded it and checked it out - strikingly similar :p . Then lavalys (the company behind Everest) announces in a press release:

Lavalys Appoints Tamás Miklós as CTO and Executive Vice President of Software Engineering Research & Development.
(Tamas was the author of Aida32)

I guess Tamas wanted to make some money from it finally. Good for him, but they weren't exactly upfront about the whole thing either

The Everest license is much more restrictive than the Aida32 one was. Which is fine. The main thing that sucks (for me and BE) is that the free home edition version doesn't support the same command line options that the aida personal edition did. Which means I can't really use it for future versions of the memory contest software :( and we won't be able to use the last Aida version for much longer because the hardware database isn't being updated.

Now using the Everest hardware dat file with the old Aida executable is something that might be possible but it's not as simple as a file name change (I tried it) - even if I or someone else does get that to work, I'm sure lavalys might have a bit of problem with it. :p
