Just found something interesting with Albatron PX865PE PRO2 board and 1.02 beta bios which has 3 new settings which the 1.01 bios doesn't

Enhanced Performance enabled/disabled
Extreme timings enabled/disabled
OC Stability DDRAM standard/optimised

by default in 1.02 bios
- enhanced performance is disabled, extreme timings is disabled and OC stability ddram is standard

1. when you set OC stability to optimised you loose around 200-400MB/s sandra buffered memory or 200-400 pcmark2002 memory marks

2. when you enable enhanced performance you get 300-450MB/s more in sandra buffered and 300-500 more pcmark2002 memory points

3. my 2x 512mb xms3500c2, 2x 256mb GEIL PC3500 Ultra dual, 2x 256MB OCZ PC3700 Gold can't even boot at 5:4, 3:2 even at 250FSB/200MEM when OC Stability is set to standard but my 2x 256MB OCZ Premier PC3500 can at 5:4 and 3:2

Now set OC Stability to optimised, and guess what OCZ PC3700 Gold works in 5:4 and 3:2 in that it can even boot! Guess OC Stability's function is just what it's name is :)

4. Seems extreme timings is too extreme as no memory i've tested to date can handle extreme timings at rated speeds and memory timings and be fault free and/or even boot. Extreme timings should give another 300-400MB/s on top of enhanced memory enabled.

5. Definitely need more vdimm i.e. 2.9-3.1v for more. For example, Bigtoe has his 4x 256MB OCZ PC3700 Gold @250mhz 2-6-3-3 98% stable at 3.05V on vdimm modded P4P800

Seems like albatron has the system temps a little more reasonable then what is reported on the i845pe mobos....Also looks like it undervolts still in the .03-.05 range....

The high vcore on that baord is still 1.6v's right??? So actual will only be 1.57 to 1.55v...

Let me know if there are any mods to this or if the old vidpin mod of the northwoods to change default still works....

I like albatron and I would look their route for the right price and some better ocing options in the bios...

PX865PE PRO2
vcore 1.4 or 1.425v - 1.6v in bios
vAGP 1.5 - 1.8v
vDimm 2.55 - 2.85

in windows MBM5 reports
- 1.525v in bios as 1.47-1.49v idle and 1.44-1.47 under load
- 1.6v in bios as 1.55-1.57v idle and 1.52-1.55v under load

Macci vdim modded his Albatron to 3.5v vdimm! soldering i guess

PiLsY. if they didn't involve soldering it would be nice i.e. a bios mod :D

What about the old copper wire connecting certain pins under the cpu setting the cpu to 1.5 to 1.85v for default vcore??? This worked with the northwood A series I know but I never had to try with this B chip and I wonder if the C chip would work likewise...

well this is probably the best my cpus can do with OCZ PC3700 Gold given the max 2.85v vdimm available and 1.6v vcore which undervolts to 1.52v in windows
