Hi everyone! Bout a year ago I got myself an AMD 1700+ thoroughbred. I was super new to overclocking (and still am), and decided I was gonna OC the hell out of my chip. Well, I think I may have pushed a bit too hard, cause she runs extremely hot now, even while at default settings. I'm looking to buy a new CPU now, and was wondering what would be a good buy. I've got a fairly new Mobo capable of 400 fsb, as well as 512 OCZ pc-3500 RAM. Any thoughts on an AMD chip I could get that maybe I could OC just a little? I'm not looking to to get anything crazy, just something that'll run at fair speeds. Looking to spend no more than $100. Thanks all!

I've been looking around on NewEgg and I've seen these AMD "mobiles." Could someone explain the difference?

The main differences between it and the regular 2500+ are:
- the multiplier is unlocked, so that you can adjust it for overclocking.
- it runs with less voltage, therefore cooler.
- it runs on the 133 (266) platform for lots of o/c headroom.
It's the best choice in Athlon XP chips for the overclocker at this point in time.
