Going to try and hunt down a dual Xeon board with some overclocking potential. I know they might not have the options that the P4’s do, but there has got to be something out there that will provide some excitement.

I’ll look at some of the major brands and see what I can dig up.

Anyone have suggestions on a starting point?

Yup. IWill makes great boards for servers. :)

However, Intel is planning to come out with 800fsb Xeons...so you might want to wait even there. At least there is DDR400 ECC RAM for these future boards. :)

2.4Gig 400fsb xeons running 190+fsb dual channel ddr..why wait?

The board has full ram tweaking options.
fsb 100>200 in 1MHz steps
The chips are unlocked down the way.

Voltage tweaks are a maybe but the vcore mod is VERY easy, and good ddr will run 2-5-2-2 at defaut anyway ;)

If i didn't have a the MPX2 i would have this board.

many are hitting 3.4gig easy with 1.6Vcore.

Looks like I might have been misinformed. Maybe it was wishful thinking on the site I got the information from. This is what is coming out later this year:

In the third quarter of 2003, Intel will manufacture a two-way Xeon with a full megabyte of level-2 cache, using the now-standard 533-MHz bus. Nocona, a 90-nm dual-processor Xeon which also includes a 1-Mbyte cache, will be introduced in the fourth quarter at an undisclosed "increased" frequency, Graff said. "Lindenhurst", a chipset fro two-way "Nocona" servers, will be introduced in 2004.

The 'undisclosed "increased" frequency' may be 667 or 800 or what?

Forget the Canterwoods/Springdales boards. I know what I wish for. Glad to see another talking about 800fsb Xeons-I thought I was losing more of my mind. Don't have much left-that's why I need more computers. :look: (pr, is hoping wife is not reading this) :look:
