So here's my problem, my laptop has a built in wireless receiver(whatever you call it)-plz note i'm not a computer person-and I'm receiving a very low signal strength. Are there any ways to connect a homemade atenna with the laptop to increase strength or are there any other additional ways to increase signal strength. Also, could you please include instructions on how to do this. Thx

Depending on what wireless router you have you can usually upgrade the antennas to boost signal strength. Ive also seen people make signal boosters out of aluminum foil covered cardboard and the like. Also, if you can, you can always move the router closer to you!

what laptop do you have and is the wireless card inside the machine?
or is it the style in the PCMCIA slot (removable)?
there are many ways to boost signal strength, 1st off is to get a nice card :D

I use a network range expander http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1130267578138&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper
works fine, got signal from faint to excellent, i can now use my laptop outside the building :-)
