Well, my Belkin UPS bit the dust Sunday after 3 1/2 years of faithful service.

I decided to go with this one:
CyberPower PR2200 2200VA 1500W 6 Outlets Pure Sine Wave UPS
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16842102019

I am just wondering if anyone knows why Pure Sine Wave is better for components than Simulated Sine Wave?

I know I have heard that somewhere, but cant remember where or who said that.

Pretty much what it says, one form is truly pure, which simulated is not necissarily SIMULATED, but not as purly intergrated. Youd want to go with pure either way.

I know the 'simulated' is just turning on then off then on again.
I know the pure is always on.

But why is that better for components?

I found some information regarding simulated sine wave vs. pure sine wave.

From what I have read, simulated sine waves can sometimes cause interference--EMI, RFI--and may be incompatible with some electronic devices such as microwave ovens, battery chargers, and PSU's.(and TV's sometimes)

If your PSU has active PFC then you need pure sine waves. If not then you should be able to use either.

Thanx BGP.

That clarifies things a little.
