I dislike USB connections. A bunch of individual pins to connect and in the right order. What makes it worse is the printing on these pins. Especially when when the makrings don't make much sense.

Thanks to Just Learnin, I was able to overcome wiring the case's front panel USB to a board. He sent me a copy of his case manual that let me figure out what pin went where.

These pics may come in handy one day when connecting USB to your board.

Ok, this is halfway there.... I have a slightly retro Thermaltake Soprano that I've put my x 58 rig in. The Soprano has a couple of usb and audio ports in the lid, they all terminate in individual connectors.

The Ga ex58 ud34 has a socket for usb, like your picture. But I'm missing the obvious translation between the two. Help?

It should be pretty much like the picture.
Your Soprano case has two sets of USB leads.
Your UD3R has two USB headers (Yellow) each header can do two ports.

The pin that is missing, would be the number 9 pin.
The other end of that top row is number 1 pin. It gets the red 5volt wire.
Pin 3 gets the white - data wire
Pin 5 gets the green + data wire
Pin 7 gets the black earth wire.

The 2nd set from your case can go underneath in the same order in pin 2 (red) 4 (white) 6 (green) 8 (black)

That one uses Mini USB. Any electronics store should carry them.
