Before you buy - for that kind of money . Look / search for seagate 7200.10 hard drive, pricing is frankly increadible these days and you get the latest from Seagate ( perpendicular technology)

Example - 250 Gig for the same price as what you are proposing to buy.

Just to answer your original question, In my opinion Samsung drives are some of the best. Ive had an 80gig SATA from them for years and its still working just as smoothly as it did when I first got it.

i searched at the comp stores i buy from best price i found was $99.99 for the 7200.10 250gb 8mb cache
but they also have 7200.10 16mb cache 250 gb for $105
and 7200.10 16mb cache 320 gb for $120;00

is there much of a difference between 8mb cache/and 16mb cache?
im thinking of getting the7200.10 16 mb cache 250gb for $105

tipsy

Happy all is well and looking forward to your feedback.

Pssttt...you need to learn about the effects of upgrade in a household and how it works. Short version , son get's the hard drive in your machine and you get the brans spanking new one with the humougous size to boot. Logic is simple really - he does not need the bigger size, you do ...and even if you don't it's call a white lie..hehe

Have fun....

BB ONE lol, i was thinking that after i put it all together and noticed it loads faster then mine and is very qiute and seems realllllllly smoooooth running. now i want one:thumbs:
[NOTE to get the 3gb to work your board has to support sata2 3gb and you must remove the tiny jummper on the back]

i dint have much time to test anything my son was dying to play WOW with his new parts,he had a :chit: from ear to ear.
also when i got to the comp store no x2 3800 so i grabbed a 4200 $40;00 more, i thought it would be cheaper to get that then drive back[gas prices :coocoo: ] lol

he has a super lanboy case the power led is 3 pin and the asrock 939 is 2 pin,can the 3 pin be changed to a 2pin?
