View Full Version : Dual now, or Dual later?

Hey hey, just a quick'n'easy question for y'all...

I'm currently trying to build a sweet rig while keeping things in a reasonable price range.

Basically, I was wondering...with dual ram, is it necessary to buy both chips as a dual set? Or can I buy a single stick now and another identical stick later and have them still operate as dual sticks?

With ram prices so ridiculously high, I can afford one stick of really good ram, but not a dual set of the same quality...unless I rob a bank...and I'd rather not have to resort to that again. ;)

:welcome: to the BleedinEdge darcynader

You certainly can do this, but they will not be matched sets of RAM if you decide this is the way to go...Chances are it will not make a big difference gettting the matched sets

Great, thanks for the help!

You know, it's a relatively simple question...but you'd be surprised how many people you have to ask before you find one that will give you an honest answer.

cheers!

darcynader, Welcome to BE

Ya, like Paragon said, it shouldn’t make that much of a difference unless you’re pushing it to extreme limits. But then again, nothing is for certain when you push your hardware to the BleedinEdge !!

Good luck on your system build. Let us know how it turns out. :thumb:
