Looks like the NV40 is really kicking up the dust, with toms hardware page comparing the jump from the 'Radeon 8500 to the 9700 Pro' and comments like:

"12.000 points in 3DMark 2003. A score of over 60.000 in AquaMark 3. Over 60fps in Halo at 1600x1200 and more than 50fps in FarCry with High FSAA and 4tap anisotropic filtering at 1024x768 - these are numbers that will bring tears of joy to PC enthusiasts everywhere. "

And finally, http://mbnet.fi/elixir/NV40/ - These were pinched from HardOCP and leaked before the NDA had expired :x The NDA expires at 9am EST (14th) so all is good though :)

I'm going to be flitting around the net looking for reviews/pictures/etc today, so I'll update this post as I find more info =)

This looks like what the FX should have been on the first pass. If you find a real link to buy one, let me know. ;) I'm looking for the Ultra Edition. I would assume we should see them in less then a month.
