That OCZ Eliminator II of mine keeps my 3.2C cool but my goodness is it ever loud! Aside from the fan on the Radeon and the two in the Antec power supply this is the only fan I have in the system. I would like to quiet down my computer by installing some soundproofing. Can somebody recommend a good product? Any other tips or hints?

Jeremy,
There are several ways to reduce the noise of a loud PC, like sound dampening materials that line the inside of your case, using larger fans that run at lower RPM, or thermally controlled fans. Zalman makes some really good heatsinks that work very well and run quietly. Akasa makes some good dampening material for cases.
Here’s a couple of links that should give you some ideas. :thumb:

Thank rotorhead. I think what I shall do first is buy the Zalman Fanmate to slow down the fan on the OCZ Eliminator II. I have a 350W Enermax Whisper Power Supply in another one of my computers so I may switch it with the SmartPower 350W that came standard with my case.
I am going to ask around to see if anybody has any leftover dynamat

Doesn't sound proofing material hold in heat?

You may see the temps rise a couple of degrees with sound proofing materials but usually that's all...the silentpc guys have theirs idling around 32-35 C and around 50-52C at full load, but their rigs are damn near silent

Doesn't sound proofing material hold in heat?
Sometimes it can, but in most cases it’s no more then 2-5 degrees C. Shouldn’t hurt unless you’re already running close to the thermal limit. If you have good airflow in your case to start with, the effects should be minimal.
