GEIL Gold dragon series

anyone nkow if this ram is any good...

newegg has 2 x 256 for 120ish pc3500 @ 2-6-3-3

as compared to

2 x 256 for 215 pc3700 @ 2-7-3-3 for the ocz gold stuff



anyone?

It is good RAM, but make sure you do some research to make sure your motherboard is tested with Geil RAM. Some motherboards love the stuff and others spit it out. Same with OCZ. ;)

I second the compatability thing...I have seen numerous threads at anandtech in the past with geil sticks and compatability.....

It also seems more so then ever these DCDDR mobos are quite picky when it comes to working and working at certain timings...

I would get the OCZ Gold no questions asked.These sticks kick @ss.I booted into windows at 540 DDR with one stick.The other stick the speed chip broke off on shipping and should have the replacement tomorrow.They use new cases now from preventing that from happening.Supposedly they don't work well on an AMD setup though so I would look into something else.For Intel they ar fantastic.

is this 1 stick of the ocz gold 256meg stick that is the same from the dual kit?

yeah,thats the same.I didn't think you could buy it in single sticks.I wouldn't get the OCZ Gold if your planning to use it with AMD.I ben reading about a few problems and the low latency.

this has been the most frustrating thing so far...

is trying to figure out what stick of ram to get...

the ch-5 winbond/twinmos is no good with my nf7-s ... after one rma, i decided to send it back for a refund....

any suggestions then as to what i should get in order to get around a fsb of 230-240???

The Twinmos with the BH-5 is the good one I believe.Ram is hard to predict.Either you get good sticks that overclock high or average or barely do spec.The Kingston HyperX stuff is good but you had a problem with it that I read a while back.The new Geil stuff is suppose to be good but who knows.:rolleyes:
