I just got a new computer, and I am trying to figure out the best way to get an internet connection. I want to get DSL, since it's fast but cheap (relatively), but there is already a DSL line in the house (not mine). I have had problems installing a router on the first computer (also not mine) because it just has a lot of problems and pretty much needs to be wiped clean and have everything re-installed. Instead it would be easier for me to get my own connection, especially since the other person may be moving soon.
All that just to ask: can you have more than one DSL line in a house? Like an SBC/AT&T line and then say I got one from Verizon - is that possible? Or can you only have it from one company since their equipment is already on the phone line?

It would be easiest to just get a router. They aren't that hard to setup.
I don't see why you couldn't have 2 dsl lines in the house if it's wired for it. You'll just have to call the companies and see if they service your address. Why not call the same company you have and ask them if they can add another line?
