My New Invisible Hard Drive

I just purchased and installed a new 250 gig drive and 2x1 gig ram sticks (ocz) and the new hardrive is not showing up but in device manager properties says drive is working properly...??? Anyone know what the problem could be ?



P.S. the drive is western digital sata 2

Hello,

What motherboard are you working with?

Did you format the drive and assign it a letter?

Maybe you need to go into COmputer Mgmt> Disk Manager in XP and make it online and active?

have you looked in admin tools / computer management /disk management
thats where you will need to activate , format disk ect... dont make the disk dynamic .

I'd say you have to format drive. Windoze will not rcognize it untill it is formatted.

SATA drives seem to have some nifty ways to make you want to run into your pc with a giant hammer when you install them. That's what I hear anyway.

Did you use the diskette which came with the board to install a SATA driver?

he need's to format the hdd...
