View Full Version : Help Disabling Windows UPDATE trickery!!!

I'm hopin someone can help me with a problem...I never cared much for windows update and i wish to disable it because last night when I shut down It went into the pre shut down screen and seemed to freeze...NOT the basterd was downloading 45 updates wicth i do not want nor did i approve in windows (CONSIDERING i HAVE ALL THE SETTING TURNED OFF) Anyway I chrashed the pc by restarting it therefore destroying windows and i now hate microsoft with a passion, i just cant believe the crap their pulling,I own win x64...and i was not impressed...now this crap with my regular xp copy... the updates i dont need....everything runs just the way i want it so is there anything i can do to disable the updates PERIOD end of story?:na: :fire:

Thats not the problem windows is bypassing this, this fix is a registry mod check out my bold letters in my first post:)

Have you tried running gpedit.msc and setting the options through that? I can dig out the specifics if you need?
Sorry had a few beers and can't remember where they were - I was looking at it this morning though!!!!!

Try this right click on "my computer" and select manage. On the bottom in the left pane double click "services and applications", the double click on services. Then on the right side look for "automatic updates". Right click on it and select properties, then click on the stop button and then select disabled in the "startup type" drop down window. Click ok and your done.
