I am trying to update the firmware on a digital camera so it will cooperate with x64. Currently x64 doesn't recognize it, and the manufacturer has NOT written 64-bit drivers for it. Luckily however, I found a post a PlanetAMD64 where a guy said flashing to latest firmware lets x64 see the device and enables perfect functionality in PTP mode. Hurray.
Enter the problem. Per very strict instructions, the update needs to execute from the CF card installed in the camera. Whenever I go to xfer the firmware file on to the CF card so the camera can flash itself I get an error - Disk is write protected, etc. I have been Googling until very frustrated and can't find an answer. This happens with two different brands of CF cards, Lexar, and PQI.
Does anyone know how to bypass, or disable write-protection on CompactFlash cards?
Thanks, jM.
