Part 1

This first part will be the basic guide for the majority of laptop users. You wont need part 2 unless you feel confident in taking apart the laptop.

Things needed

1. Canned Air
2. Rubbing Alcohol 89% or higher
3. Soft cloth, (100% cotton t-shirt)
4. Coffee Filters
5. Dawn liquid dish soap
6. Soft Toothbrush

To begin unplug the Laptop from its power source and remove the battery.
Blow the dust off of the screen and work your way to the keyboard.
A lot of dust and dirt falls between the cracks of the keys so really blow it out good.

Now turn the laptop over and identify the location of the fans
I have 2 fans And i marked them with blue arrows to represent the cold air that is pulled into these vents.

Find the outlet vents which release the hot air. mine are marked with red arrows.

Now clean these by blowing the canned air backwards thru the vents.
in otherwords, you will blow the air into where the hot air comes out.
As seen below
do it until you are sure no more dust is coming out.

Blow back thru the other way now, into the fans, moving the air around getting it as best as you can.
repeat going from intake to outlet a few times to remove as much dust as possible. dont stop until you feel you got it all.

Now mix up in a bowl or container warm water with very little dish soap. I used one small drop.

Wet your Cloth and ring it out really well, you dont want any water to drip down between the keys of the laptop.
Wipe the screen down lightly, do not scrub it. and then wipe the keys really well.

Your screen will appear greasy looking but dont worry about it. the soap will remove oils and grease found in the air that settles on the screen.

You can clean the small cracks with the toothbrush using the soapy water mix, shake the toothbrush so its not gonna drip water.

Also clean the sides of the keys with the toothbrush.

Rinse your rag very well and get a bowl of clean water. re-wipe everything you went over with the soapy water to remove any soap residue.
http://cryo-laboratory.com/upload/userfiles/rhino56/Watercooling/Picture%20307.jpg

Now discard that water and get a small amount of clean warm water.
Mix it with the alcohol at a ratio of about half water and half alcohol.

Now wipe the screen using a coffee filter wet from the alcohol/water mix as seen here
http://cryo-laboratory.com/upload/userfiles/rhino56/Watercooling/Picture%20309.jpg

Dry the screen with a dry coffee filter and it should be completely streak free and look great.
You can also use this method on any lcd screen.

Part 2 (Advanced level) will be coming soon on how to further improve cooling on your Laptop.

Special thanks to all the folks at www.cryo-labs.com who make these guides possible.
