Just purchased another 74G Rapture, downloaded the lastest "Platform/nForce Drivers - nForce4 AMD - Windows XP" driver set from NVIDIA site (6.70), and copied the IDE\WinXP\sataraid folder to a floppy.

All goes as expected until the second XP pro installation reboot - where it appears the installation thus far is corrupted.

Rebooting to the installation disk and doing the "R" repair option - drops me to a C: prompt, and chkdsk actually fires up here, but reports errors - chkdsk /r runs quickly to 50% and then seems to hang.

BIOS RAID setup, total NTFS format, initial installation file download, first reboot good, second set of "windows" mode file down loads - no errors, no complaints - but at the point it should reboot into the new installation - everything is corrupted on the stripped drive.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like one of your hdd's might be bad. WD has a diagnostic program that runs off a bootable cd. I'd do a quick test of both drives. :bonk:

I had grabbed the latest board set drivers from nvidia's site and cut out the raid disk part to floppy. I went back to dfi's site, downloaded the drivers they pionted to (about 1 year older than nvidia's site), and it all ran fine.

Also grabbed the WD Lifegaurd Diagnostics and ran extented tests fine on both drives.

HOWEVER,
I was hoping on doing an acronis true image restore of my old system, and forgot that they do their own boot after the restore. Are there any dos utilities, That will allow me to resintall the raid drivers after the image restore? Or any files that can be edited (i.e. old config.sys/autoexec.bat type of stuff)?

I would try restoring the image to a sata drive and install the raid drivers from within windows, then save the image and restore it to your raid array. It should boot if you have the settings right in the bios.
I've done it before using Ghost. Acronis never played nice with my raid array.
