I will say thanks to Paragon for the link to OCing. It was a great article for n00bs. (Like me)
I was always under the impression you had to unlock the CPU in order to OC.
I currently have an 1700+ Palomino, Epox 8KHAL and 512 Kingston value ram. (you can laugh at the memory now)
So any who, after reading the article I went ahead and dove right in. I found out I couldn't change any voltage on this POS mobo, but never the less.
Here are the results( running stable through Prime 95 and SiSoft benchies)
Starting:
CPU- 1462 Mhz
FSB-132.9
Bus Speed- 265.8
Final result:
CPU-1582.9 Mhz
FSB-143.9
Bus Speed- 287.8
SiSoft(original configuration)
CPU Arith-Dhrystone:5500
Whetstone:2281
Memory Bandwidth: 1888
1748
SiSoft(after stable OC)
CPU Arith-Dhrystone:5991
Whetstone:2473
Memory Bandwidth:2015
1877
All in all, considering the limitations of my mobo and memory, I would consider this pretty good. I am satisfied with it. Thanks again Paragon :thumb:
At least now I have somewhat of a grasp on the concept.
