I thought I would share my experience on the P4P800 board(s) over the past three weeks. I know we have had many posts regarding this subject, however, I still think this is one of the finest boards I have ever owned.

I first purchased the P4P800 standard and ran into some problems with the Intel SATA RAID. It would work with my drives, however, it would not work as boot (RAID) drives. I had spent a total of about 4 hours on the phone with Asus over 3 days. They thought I might have a bad bios load in my Intel chipset... told me to RMA it back. OK... here is my chance for an upgrade. I did get an RMA, however, I ordered a P4P800 Deluxe.

I received my Deluxe on Tuesday of this week and was ready to try the Intel SATA RAID... same problem as I had with the standard. BTW... I am using (2) 80G Maxtor Ultra's w/ Iwill iS2 SATA adapters. Also, my thanks to Prom for his suggestions and patience. I did try the VIA RAID instead of my Promise TX2000 RAID card... I have noticed about a 25 - 30% increase in throughput. So, all in all, I still came out a head with the deluxe board. I might mention that the issue with the Intel RAID was it would recongize my drives and everything was normal until I got to the point of formatting... then it would just set there.

I am running my current set up without any issues. I have all of my software loaded and it is flying. I have bumped my FSB to 250 and I know there is a whole lot more room. ( I know Skully... yours is really flying ) I am going to take it slow and bump it up a couple of notches a day. I would like to get my 2.6c up to 3.6 and will probably leave it at that.

Would I recommend this board.... without a doubt. It is a very forgiving board when you get crazy. I wasn't sure about the AMI bios at first... but I love it. It just took a while to get used to.

I will post some of my benchs when I figure out how to do it. Otherwise I will just put the numbers in another post... they are quiet impressive.

Cheers,
Sweeper
