Just got high speed yesterday, and wanted to put it on a wireless network so that my brother could hook up to it aswell. So I installed all the new drivers, followed all the instructions on how to set it up and everything. Same for the wireless network card.

Turns out they don't like eachother or something.

I can tell the wireless router is feeding info to my pc because I can see the littleicon saying its currently connect @54mbps and the signal is excellent (its sitting right on my tower) yet i get no internet connection with it. So I figure something is wrong with my network card...

I have a Linsys Wireless-G Router Model WRT54G and the Network card is a D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510. I figured there would be no compatability errors, because the guy at Staples told me so :help:

Thanks

What kind of high speed internet you using?
I know some cable ISP's filter access by MAC address. So, you may need to set up the wireless router to emulate the MAC address of the network card of the PC that was set up for internet service.

a lot of times on first connection to high speed you have to reset the modem. Unplug the modem, press in the reset switch while plugging it in, let the reset go after about 10 seconds and see if it goes. if not call the cable company (or phone company i guess for DSL) and make sure they have the right MAC address loaded for your modem.

There should be no compatibility errors with that setup as i run the exact same setup at my house. As said before you may need to resett he router.

Thats exactly what I had to do with my setup :thumb:

Also had to reboot everything in this order........Modem, Router, then PC
