View Full Version : OCZ and DFI don't want to work at DDR500 anymore.

The DFI LANParty 875P (not revision B) with a 2.6c was running great with the OCZ4000 EL "Gold" for months but as of today-no more. :(
Was starting to get memory errors from application hangs in Windows XP Pro. Ran the latest memtest86 and pass #4 fails. Return to DDR400 speeds, with timings or anything else not changed in the bios and the test runs fine. This is some of the most expensive RAM I've got. 2 x 256 costs me $215. Guess I can forget about oc'ing with this system anymore. It's either the DFI board that is not interacting with the RAM or the RAM is going bad. :(

Do you have another board to test the Ram with?

I have another board but I'm not about to go through replacing a proc and memory between two boards at this time. The proc and memory has to be changed because I would need to test at DDR500. I have had enough with hardware in the past three weeks. FedEx has gotten over $100 from me for RMA'ing hardware in the past two weeks-I need a break from it. As far as I'm concerned, unless I get more problems, I don't care anymore. I'm really burned out with hardware failures. :(

test #4 is more related to the cpu than the ram itself...
Try re-flashing the bios??

That would be even worst. :p No warranty on that proc. But could it also be the board? Default settings seem to work for now. I will check like PF suggested to see if there's a bios flash needed. DFI makes bios flashing strikingly simple.
Edit: Looks like DFI has dropped the ball on this board, last bios update is 7/22/2003. :( I have that version.

Thanks for the desire to help me guys. :)
I have been extremely busy so I have had very little time to work on this matter. Last night I tried something though, after letting the 'puter rest from the oc'ing-I returned the system back to 250fsb but I also raised the vcore by a very slight increase. Before this I would even get error messages just from the computer idling overnight, no so this time. I will hopefully get a chance to run memtest86 in the near future. Since it was mentioned that test #4 can point to the proc having a problem I figured that maybe it is suffering from low voltage (hopefully not SNDS).
