I have not dealt with DDr so I am not sure which manufacturer to go with, Corsair (whom has a good rep but tends to be expensive), Mushkin (also a good rep but I have read bad as well), Ocz same as before!!

Also not sure whether or not to go with 3200 or higher, am not really looking to overclock mem but want my system to be able to handle apps for a few years at least so better performance the more I will like.

I want to get a decent price for a decent performing set. Criteria as follows
1gig
$240. limit cannot go too far beyond that.

Any suggestions mates?

Any of the 3 will do you fine. Look for Low Latency 3200's. You want a matched set that can do fast timings, like 2-2-2-5 or 6

If you want to spend a little more, and decide to OC a little, go for 3500's.

I've had good results with a wide variety of Mushkin memory. Kingston HyperX has also performed well for me with the added benefit that Best Buy sometimes combines a rebate with a decent sale price.

Have you heard anything about the hyperX 3700 perchance. New Egg has it for 229 there are no reviews that I know of on it so I was slightly leary of it.

As a matter of fact Cabinny_san, I've got 2x256 of the HyperX 3700 running in my Asus P4C800-E/2.4C machine. It's currently running 280 fsb at 5:4 divider set to timings of 2-2-4-6, PAT enabled at 2.75v. The HyperX 4000 will run at a higher fsb (~260 on my IC7), but at more relaxed timings.

The settings referenced above are stable for general use, gaming, benchmarks,Seti, prime95 for 12 hours etc., at least on my machine. :thumb:

Have you tried the 3700 in your ic7 at all? that is the mobo I have for my new rig, wondering about the performance on that board. A few people said that they could not get the 3700 to go to cas 2 at ddr 400 what has your experience been? I have never changed timings on memory before so when I get my rig built will have to talk to y'all about that.

Another question anyone here have any experience with Geil at all, more specifically the ultra platinum 3500 Dual Channels.

For only 203 dollars if it performs well would be worth it.

I just rma'd a set of hyper x 3700. It is great ram and I could get up to 255 2.5 4 3 7. But!!!!!!!.......I could not run any 3d without graphic artifacts, not even at 200fsb. The are going to send me a new set without Hynix chips. They seem to think that hynix is the culprit. I currently have 2x512 Centon Gemini running at 230 2.5 3 3 6 and can play 3d games all day. So, it's pretty obvious to me that it is the memory that is the problem and not the mobo. I'll let ya know how the new stuff works out.

I found the Hyper X at zipzoomfly for 226. and with free 2nd day shipping, I am thinking I should jump on that now the way prices have been jumping lately.

Or I may be the first here to try out PMI turbo. Have been reading up on it and seems like it may be a decent purchase as well for the money.

I have not seen that at the forums, but then I do not go to every forum I could. I would rather have mushkin as it is cheaper than corsair. Just wish I had bought the memory a few months ago when it was cheaper.
