Both games were released on Monday. I have had the oportunity to play both and I must say I'm more impressed with UT 2004 than I thought I would be. The Unreal team did an excellent job of integrating vehicles. There are so many new facets to the game it is "Unreal" I crack myself up. For example, when attacking someone with alternate fire on your link gun and your teammate alt fires his linkgun at you, you are given double the firepower--killing your enemy in half the time!!! This is especially handy when attacking vehciles.
Battlefield Vitenam is also pretty cool. They have made manuvering the helicopters much better! The music and effects are also a notch above many games i've played. They also have integrated support for 5.1 and 7.1 sound systems. Two words, TOTAL IMMERSION!!! I also like the meter readout when taking over an outpost. Another cool thing is when you kill a vietnamese soldier, his pointy had is hung up on his weapon which is stuck standing up in the mud! This game is awesome if you have friends at a lanparty to play with. Teamwork is key.
I think my money was well spent on both games. Hopefully we'll get some fragging action going in UT2004 this Friday night.
Two thumbs up for both the Unreal team and the Battlefield team.
PS. And remember, what better is a bleedin fast computer than for games and folding proteins?
