I just got my P4P800 to replace my crappy buggy useless MSI 865pe mobo but anyways...

I just got this P4P800 mobo & I am blow away !! WOW :eyepop:

Its a kick ass mobo but I am not sure if I missed a bios setting or not but when it boots it's lightnight fast but then I see a flashing _ lower case on the left and side of my screen for 15 sec or about.

did I miss somthing in the bios ??

do I have to do a clean install of XP ?

Why do I see this flashing lower case minus sign for 15 secs after boot ?

could it be XP looking for something ?

Tell me if you have this prob,if not then it must be XP .

is the delay during HD detaction?
there is a HD Init delay option in bios.

No it does this after it's detected the hd's and cdroms , it flashes a ( - ) on the top left corner of my screen for 10 - 15 secs then boots normally.

it's weird , maybe XP is looking for something i dunno.

or maybe looking for other boot devices?

I will have to mess around with it some more until I stumble on it. Thanks . :)

ah!

well when win98 does that ~ it means its rebuilding the swap file, and yea it takes 10-20secs.

If only Win2k would support Hyperthreading properly.

Well I finaly found out what was causing the delays in my booting.

As it turns out this mobo doesnt like my dvd burner & cd burner on the same cable using jumper Cable select, never had a problem before but....

So I put my cd burner master (by jumper) & my dvd burner as Slave via jumper & it boots fast now with no 30 seconds wait. :)

I can in all honesty now say I love this board.
