From http://www.intel.com/support/network/adapter/1000/spec.htm it says the Intel 1000Pro series can operate at temps between 0-55C. Is that the enviromental temp or the temp of the chip on the card ?
I have 2x Intel 1000Pro T server adaptors 32/64bit 32/66mhz and I measured the temp of the chip on the one of these cards which is plugged into my Asus P4C800-E (as the onboard Intel 1000Pro CT nic isn't working properly as out of the blue, I lost network connectivity when driver has exclamation mark next to it and reinstalling driver has no affect). The temp read 48-51C and was very hot to touch.
Are all Intel 1000Pro adaptors this hot on the chip ?
