First I update a bios, and it kills the bios. Then I break a capacitor on the replacement mobo.
Now windows BSOD'ed, and seems to have taken Internet Explorer's CSS (style sheets) with it. I am posting this in a no style sheet web page, stark blazing white  , with no formatting to it.
Does ANYONE know how to enable CSS in IE, or am I going to have to uninstall/re-install IE in the hopes that it will fix it?
TIA

Why don't you give a try to Firefox? I know this is not the answer you was looking for, but maybe it helps (and improves) your web surfing. As for enabling CSS, sorry I have no idea.

I had a problem with IE - I think it also affected MS Paint as well. I think I got a couple of DLL corrupted or something - Mine happened due to - urrr 'over-enthusiastic overclocking!'. Try repairing your XP installation first. If not reinstall windows. I doubt very much reinstalling IE will work - at least it didn't for me. I chased all sorts of links suggesting ways of fixing it to no avail :(
I hope someone comes up with better advice, but thats what I had to do.
Before you do something as harsh as a reinstall, try this if you are running XP. In accessories is a utility called Systm Restore. If you have this enabled, which is on by default, roll your system back to a day when you know it was stable. ;)

Yeah, I am currently on firefox. This is the only app on my system that displays correctly now. The only problem with using it is that Norton Password Manager is not compatible with FF, and I have like 100+ username/passwords on the web. :(

Yeah, I tried the repair, the ie uninstall/reinstall, a new gdi dll (and gdiplus), and still no go. This is my work machine, and I would lose too much time getting the os and all the software re-installed to be very effective. But, it might come as a very last resort.

yeah, I know all about system restore. Unfortunately, this is one of the first things I turn off when I get a new system to save on resources. The one time I actually need to use it , it is turned off. Guess that will teach me a lesson, huh?
Usually I make a backup with Norton Ghost, but I had forgot to do that with this machine. :beat:
It looks like this might be a gdi problem anyway, and I posted on the MS forum. Hopefully someone will have an answer for me, cuz this is getting very annoying.
Thanx everyone for the suggestions.
And if anyone has any new suggestions, please feel free to post them (read: HELP!!!!). :D

Good luck with that... If you happen to speak with "Big Bill" there are a few things I would like to thank him for. BSOD is definatly on the upper part of that list. :smash:

Have you tried system repair with your windows disk? That may fix it.

Hooooooooray for programs like xp-lite !!!!!!
I ripped out a bunch of OS specific stuff (one specific one was Extra Fonts, cuz different websites would use different fonts for some reason when it was hosed), and on the reboot the OS seemed to re-configure itself. On the bootup, everything is back to normal!!!!
Thanx everyone for the suggestions. I really appreciate it.

Why don't you use the FF password manager? It even has a password protection each time you access any of the pass stored. And you can always backup your FF settings in case you re-format. They are stored in "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Program Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles": I've had my FF settings since ver <1.0 and everything works ok. It saves Bookmarks, extensions, themes, history and passwords.
