Hello Folks,
I purchased/installed a copy of XP Pro with Service Pack 2 Retail. I was wondering if it is possible to somehow uninstall SP2 and install SP1 instead ?? I am betting not. :( Or maybe there is a way to install it without Service Pack 2 ???? :?:
Thanks -Pete

It may be integrated into the package you bought and unremovable. If not then go to Add/Remove Programs and towards teh bottom see if you can unistall Service Pack 2.

Merry Christmas Snafu,
Oh it's integrated all right! I thought there might have been some method of "deintegration" though? Like a reverse slipstream or something. If not that just sucks. :smash: :beat: :bonk: Oh wellllll ......... :irk:
I even tried installing SP2 seperately to see if it would show up in Add\Remove and although it seemed to install fine there was still no hidden uninstall folder or any hint of it in Add\Remove programs.... Sheeesh!!

C'est la vie. I tried.
Just remember the MS mantra:
"Resistance is futile You will be integrated."

this might work:
Full Reinstall with SP1 CD + the XP serial that came with your computer

Thanks krazyndn411,
It is a retail copy by Microsoft with SP2 already "blended" into it. it has it's own key and I don't have another copy of Pro without it. The key came with the XP Pro CD. When I try to install SP1 it errors out about not being able to install on a newer edition. :beat: :beat:
"Resistance is futile You will be integrated." :rotflmao: I will accept my fate Master Bates erunhhhh ........ Gates that is .. Now where did I put my "Dis- integrator"

I meant formatting the HD before installing a copy of XP Pro SP1. The CD keys should be interchangable but knowing MS, they might not be. My computer came with XP Pro pre-installed and a 2 computer key but not the XP Pro install disk.....:smash:

I don't have XP Pro SP1 only XP Pro with SP2, I understood what you meant but my copy has SP2 built in and I have no access to an earlier copy without it...

Can't see why not? It seems strange that Micro$$ released it without an uninstall option in the first place IMHO! Like you said though not sure if the key for the SP2 copy would even work on one without it ? I have XP Home as well but that is of no use here obviously.

SP2 has been out long enough now so that most of the early issues have been resolved.
It has many improvements in security. I would recommend just keeping the SP2 & installing ALL of the Critical Updates that are available. If you're having some sort of problem with the SP2 version, post here & someone should be able to help.

Hello Dave,
I am having problems with my AIWX800 XT, the graphics card portion works fine but the AIW TV and radio functions lock up. In other forums I have seen this to at times perhaps be relevant to SP2 so I just wanted to give it a try with SP1.
Thanks -Pete
