I just setup my first ever AMD system using AN50R and boy it's hot - could also be the fact that room temp in Brissy is really hot too

It is nothing unusal for an AMD proc to have only around 10~15C difference between idle and full load.

BTW: Your room temp is what my 2.6c oc'ed to 3.25 temp is right now. :p

lol... yup roasty room temps sure make oc'ing fun heh

Nice. I'm down to just two AMD procs. :wack:

2 Opterons
2 P4 Northwoods
1 Celered Northwood
1 P4 Prescott

However, I'm a stickin' to my guns-only AMD and Intel chipset boards are being used.

how come you set LDT to 2.5x?

why didn't you leave it at 3.0?

how do i know this?

i'm pyschic!!

at least for super pi

eva2000

LDT 3x doesn't seem to work with 2-2-2-6 timings with OCZ PC3500 Plat LE BH-5 stick as pc doesn't boot

eva2000

finally AS5 paste seems to have settled in some and with LDT voltage at 1.5v I can now use LDT 3X with HTT = 220 x 10

room temp = 31.1 - 33.4C right now

nice!

yeah there are no bios options to adjust the last two timings for the memory.... just determines it by itself...

when i use the divider, it shows up as 2-2-2-5-10-16

or else its usually 2-2-2-6-11-16

guess it depends on the ram as well...

mickeymouse over at xtreme says in general most bh-5's should show up as 2-2-2-6 ...

seems AMD64 has a 1.35ghz lead on P4 system in certain benchies

i.e.

AMD64 @ 2000MHZ = ~P4 3.35GHZ

strange i just tried 256MB ADATA PC4000 and even at 200mhz 3-4-4-8 with 2.9v vdimm it isn't stable - superpi errors out! WTF... swap it for 512MB OCZ PC4400 and it's fine at same speed, timings and vdimm

i'm 200% sure ADATA PC4000 aren't faulty, guess AN50R doesn't like ADATA PC4000. sort of maybe proves ADATA PC4000 isn't using Hynix D43 chips like OCZ PC4400 and Hynix PC3200 does

well i just swapped out my 9600pro and put in my 9800pro xtreme and changed to win2k and get 20k 3dmark2001 at stock video card and cpu speed :)

win2k is ALOT faster and windows now feels snappy, winxp with A64 was kind of laggy..

How are you able to run at a FSB of 274.5?
Does the Shuttle AN50R have PCI/AGP lock?
I didn't think any of the AMD64 have PCI/AGP lock

These AN50R's are a fine boards :) I'm able to run stable&solid 2.4ghz@1.65v 6:5 *2 512mb sticks of crap ram* The SOYO K8USA wouldn't even boot past 233fsb and the Ali POS SATA controller wouldn't detect the Raptor I bought. where as the Shuttle will boot to windows at the BIOS limit of 250 *haven't bothered with ClockGen* even though my CPU needs more voltage than 1.7 to run stable at that speed. So far the lower HT speed hasn't shown any negative effect given my usage either. I'm not planning to volt mod like Shim, about the only thing on my list is better ram so I can run 1:1 at high speeds.

well i just put in a stick of 256MB KHX3200 BH-5 from dual channel kit and with no mods to AN50R board still i can do 9.5 x 235mhz 2-2-2-6 at 2.9v vdimm = 2233mhz
