Got the rig all up and running... doing some tweaking now and then will do some benches... I will not go into everything that Thugs is... If I have a different opinion or situation, I will mention it... BUt I am sure Thugs will be more thorough than I ever will be.

I will say a couple things off the bat:
1. This board just feels faster than my IC7...
2. I will run a few enches tonight... but my Rapors will be here tomorrow and then I will do a revision.

Hey PJ!

Feels faster than the IC-7? Were you able to get about the same fsb or higher?

Thugs... glad to hear it!

I got 275 out of this easy... stable to... At the moment, I am trying to get this beast to boot 1:1 with some decent timings. I have it at 1:1 now, but I had to use "speed" setting which is 2.5-4-4-8, that won't work... of course my benches stink with that. This is kinda wierd... I could get 232fsb 1:1 at 2-3-2-6 on the IC7...

cas settings vary from brand to brand.

cas2225 may not actually be cas2225 on another board depending on how tighly the bios code was tweaked.

dont bother to look into it to much ~ its old news, very old. (im talking i440bx old)

I dont get what you mean. 2-2-2-5 IS 2-2-2-5 on an IC7. CPUz reports it as so. And the speed boost as compared to slower settings proves it is actually running those timings.

ThugsRook

oldfart ~ the IC7 2225 may not be as aggressive as a P4P800 c2225.

example:
my P4G8X could not even boot c2225 no matter the vdimm.
my P4P800 can run c2225 just fine ~ no extra vdimm needed.

boards differ

The Costa "B's" 533FSB CPU's are great (the best) but the "C" 800 FSB CPU's I found them not that great from what I have read. The Malaysia is the one you want right now.Not saying all Costa's stink.I seen a couple good chips. They just were not doing as good as the Malay chips.Maybe the later steppings are a different story.I am going by what I read when the "C's" were released. The one's that didn't overclock well were Costa's.One guy tried 2 and both stink.Thor had a 2.6C and wasn't that great. Most were Malay when first released then the Costa's started trickling out.

Here is the info on my chip:
sl6wh Costa Rica

I would say this is a nice chip, but not a "great chip." I bought it because I sold the 2.4c and am hoping to have some OCZ Gold here next week and wanted a higher multi... I also may have another "trick" coming my way... if I do, you will know it here... at the BE baby!

LastRide

Tricks are for kids..LOL:na:.If your at 1.6V than your idling at 1.66V and probably at the end of the line. The Costa's were still overclocking ok,just not as good as the Malay.

Yup, I agree... I am likely near the end... but I am hoping this will be a temporary chip

I been wondering.Asus probe reports .06 overvolt but in the bios its like maybe a .025 or less difference.Which one do you believe?.

Unless someone can give me a correlation between what fabs send to packaging plants in Costa Rica and Malaysia it is all a bunch of crap!!!:na:

It is about where it is fabbed and when then it is where it is packed...I thought we all got over this by now!!!

Duvie i thought it was all BS also till i saw the 2.4 and 2.53 costa's SL6RZ chips.I bought mine off PJ and chilled this gem does over 200fsb.

What does matter is where the chip came off the wafer though also, this can have a big impact on overclocking.Something else to look at is D1 stepping mobiles are available upto 2.5gig+ Im VERY tempted to get one for some 300fsb action at low vcore ;)
