what are the absolute best 5.1 speakers out now?...I'm planning on building a top of the line system soon and I want the best 5.1 speakers to go along with my new Creative X-Fi sound card...I will use it mostly for PC gaming and DVD watching...also it must have DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 support and preferably be THX certified...thanks for any help
P.S. are 7.1 speakers really worth it?...do a lot of DVD's and games support 7.1?...would I be better off getting a 7.1 set over a 5.1 set?

Logitech Z-5500
Klipsch ProMedia 5.1
P.S. At the moment only in games, and in some 7channel DVDs ( THX Surround Ex 6.1 aka Dolby Digital Ex & DTS-ES 6.1 ( Matrix & Discrete )...where you get a better sound field...
in games yes, you can enjoy a lil' bit better sound field & sound origin locatin' :)
P.S.2. 7.1 --> Creative Labs GigaWorks 7.1 S750 THX.

thanks for the help!!!
the Z-5500's do look really nice...and they've gotten excellent reviews as well
the Klipsch speakers are nice as well but they don't have DTS capabilities

The Klipsch don't have DTS Decoder onboard, but our Audigy / X-Fi sound cards do :)

I say Klipsch 5.1's. I have a pair of the 2.1 and the absolutely rock. I am not much of a gamer or a movie watcher...more of a metal head....and the 2.1's are best IMO for that.
BTW :welcome: to the Bleedinedge. Hope you enjoy your time here and decide to stay awhile :wave:

I'm pretty happy with my logitech X-530s. They dont look to sharp though, and I have yet to find an adequet stand for the rear speakers without having to tie them down with rubber bands.
