It is like a love hate relationship:) The athlon64 3200+ is very fast but we just need more options to run them at there ful potential. I am running a GA-K8N Pro and it is a very nice board. I had it running @ 224 fsb 1to1 for a month with some corsair pc3200 2x256 cas2 sticks. I wanted to try some OCZ 3700 gold rev2 and try to get 230 1 to1 after waiting for it to hit the shelves I settled for 2x512 mushkin pc3500 level2 instead. The mushkin runs like crap on this board but by the looks of it no body is capable off a great overclock. The thing with the mushkin it will not boot at cas 2.5 only cas 2 so i have no clue what it can do. The corsair being old rev1.1 spd @ ddr333 cas2.5 on this board. I wonder if the issues are nforce3 related our are the chip related because of the onboard memory controller.
I am gonna keep the mushkin and go back to a 865 or 875 board. The 64 is great for anyone who will run at stock with tight ram timmins or anyone who is happy with a mild overclock but i find it kinda boring. It has to be the fastest gamer out there without tweaking. If there was away to unlock this thing then I would be happy as a pig in s**t . For any athlon64 users we need to find out the best ram/mobo combo's for overclocking. So far it looks like old 6ns corsair worked the best on my nforce3 but I wanna know if this is cpu, mobo, or chipset related.
Yeah, I'm still looking for a sutable mobo too samcolt . I tried the 3700 Golds in my ECS mobo as well and also noticed it booting at Cas 2. Seems like I remember Tony mentioning somewhere about the 3700s doing that when underclocked but I may be losing my mind. :p I'm going to hold onto my chip until some mainstream SiS 755 mobos hit the streets, (or NForce with better O'clock options) tweak it and compare it to my 875 system. I've also got a 9800XT on the way so we'll see about gaming.

My 9800xt will be here on monday:)
but PF i am affraid that no matter what chipset or mobo combo we get the onchip mem controller on the 64 will be what is holding us back:(

samcolt, now you know why I have two Canterwoods and one dual Opteron. :p They all have their purposes. By memory bandwidth though, my dual Opteron is the fastest. For database work, I find the AMD procs to simply be the best for x86 procs. For multi-media, Intel Canterwoods. Oh, for my kids' games that simply will not run in XP and even worst will absolutely crash with HT enabled, I have a Celeron on a 845PE chipset board.
:look: See, I really do have a reason for owning 5 computers. :look: :D

I have a 3000+ and SOYO Black label Dragon SY-K8USA AMD 8151(ALI M1687) + M1563 so I'll post back with how it does :)

eva2000,
I have read this before and it is a good read. I have tried to slack timmings as much as possible and it will just not want to run at rated speed. I am sending at back and i am gonna eat the restocking fee from newegg. I am gonna try a stick of OCZ 4000 gold EL. I was gonna sell the board and CPU but I want try to get to 230 FSB 1to1. At those speds this thing would scream.

most AMD64 3200+ are reaching only 220-225fsb max... on air.. i think for higher you need more extreme cooling

I just read a couple of threads at AMDMB and OCWorkbench that indicate the SOYO K8USA has a issue detecting SATA drives, specifically Raptors. I'm OK there for now since I'll be using an old fashion 120gb 8mb cache Death Star, and SOYO claims to have corrected the issue and that it's contained to a small batch.
The thing is though, I was planning on Raptor goodness later but it'll be a real PITA if I have to send my board off for service because mines one of the bad ones, which is quite possible since both guys bought theirs at Newegg too. By the time I'm ready to get the Raptor, it'll be out of Newegg return time and I've never used SOYO before so I'm leary of dealing with the RMA with 'em. If this thing doesn't knock my socks off everywhere else I'm sendin' it back pronto to play it safe, and getting the Chaintech or Albatron.

The drama this thing cause in my life is unreal:) I put in the OCZ pc4000 gold EL and it booted right up at 230 like a champ:) but prime kept failing so i started increasing v-core and to my suprise the voltage on the cpu does not change above 1.55 nomatter what I set in the bios  The bottom line is we need some new boards. So another issue with the gigabyte is if you change your cas setting it will not boot and this sucks because the OCZ has a spd 3,4,4,8 :( eventhough it is supposed to be 2.5,4,4,7. So i am running so far 225 stable. The funny thing is i was running 224 stable on my old corsair sticks 2.5,3,3,6. So after all my fustrations i gained 1 fsb with sloppy timmings lol. I will try to push it a little more later

I was just on gigabyte's site and they had a new bios that came out on the 31st :) It did fix the voltage issue,so i am running prime @ 230fsb. Wish me luck.

Good luck on gettin there. I do fully agree though, we need some new A64 boards. Kinda waiting to see ASUS and Gigabyte's SiS755. Any word on those?

Well 230 is not happening. It will run prime95 for 10 minutes and the reboot. So i don't know what is holding me back. Maybe it is the pci lock issue?

Any SiS 755 mobos aside from the ECS would be interesting to me. :D

Whos all coming out with an enthusiast level SiS755 board? I thought for sure asus and gigabyte would, not sure on other manufacturers

It would be nice to see a sis board come out that was tweakable:)

Im hoping for a 64 board with SIS chipset on the same level my SINXP was. That was one hell of nice mobo
One of my favorite combos was my Asus P4S533 mobo with a 1.6A chip purring at 2.4. Of course, I don't expect that type of O'clock from the 3000+. Nicely tweaked 2400 speeds would be cool  . But a mobo capable of that with the right chip. :D

Congrats on a great board. What RAM will you be using on the board?
Things to make you go hmmmm.
After I built my dual Opteron, I built a P4C800E-D system using a 3.0c proc. Is this a new trend? Try out the AMD64 platform and then get the P4C800E-D with a fast P4 proc? Hmmmmm. :p :D

 No way. After I installed an additional 1 Gig of RAM on that puppy my unbuffered Sandra, on a non-oc'ed and no ability to adjust memory timings system, jumped from 2500+ to 3100+. :smokin:

pointreyes,
I am gonna use the mushkin pc3500 level2 that i was gonna send back to Newegg. I am sure it will work very nicely in this board. I would like to run 250 or more I hope with a 5to4 divider but we will see because the overclocking gods have not been with me of late.:)

Hehe... I have the P4C800E - Del and I am trying out an A64 rig this week... for my kids of course... Who knows, I might even keep the A64 for me...
Did I just say that?

When you get that pastorjay I have a couple programs I would like you to bench...
POV-Ray v3.5 (benchmark)
SETI (benchmark unit) w/ 1 instance and 2 instances
Also I have been doing some more HT testing and I need your help on how HT acts with priorities manually set in the task manager...From what I see it doesn't have much effect or not the effect I was going for...i think HT overrides all this.... Check out my HT#2 thread to see what has sparked this...
