The one I`m using now is just wack. It`s a Micro Inivations Optical Mouse and from time to time it refuses to move, or all at once it points straight up in the air spinning round and round. {Must make me look real good in game:rolleyes:} Any suggestions on a gaming mouse that will work without a pad??
Thanks.

I have a Logitech MX-518 Gaming-Grade Optical Mouse: Link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826104178) and I think it's great.

I can second the motion on the MX-518...I use it for everything...Looooove it.

2 extra side buttons for scrolling as well, plus they can be set to go forward and back in your browser :D

Anyone getting a problem with their logitech mouse with the left click button. Like when you press it, it wont respond as well as you think it will. I have the Logitech MX 700

Nope... none of the Logitechs' that I currently have here do that.
And imagine... in Rainbow Six ( the game ) I single-shoot ( each click = 1 bullet shot ) as fast as a 1/128 note :D [ have you seen the movie "The Solist" where the "crazy" pianist guy plays the "Fly Of The Bumblebee" track ? :D ] { well, that fast }

My MX700 is doing the same thing the last couple of weeks, I guess it is dying. (3years is a short life for a Rodent)

ACtually I have the same problem with my Intellimouse Explorer 4.0.

No clue how to fix it but I'm assuming its a physical failure of the actual mouse itself and there's isnt anything one can do software wise to fix it.

Needless to say I'm dumping Microsoft for Logitech. This mouse is probably a year and a half old max.

I just replaced my intellimouse explorer (v. 1.0!!!) with the logitech G5. So far so good. Tracks excellently on my desktop without a pad, which the old one didn't do so well.

Ok - i can suggest two mices - MX518 or G7. No offence to Microsoft, but these mices are the best (for cyber gaiming at least)! If you want frag higj these ones will help you out for sure! :)

Okay, I grabbed a MX518 and it seems to be working good. What`s with the diffrent DPI settings?? I can change it in game, but what should it do?? slow down the reaction?

As you increase DPI Dot Per Inch, you will need less mouse travel for mouse mouvement.

Lowest DPI for example: move mouse 2 inches on mouse pad moves 5 on screen

Highest DPI for example: move mouse 2 inches on mouse pads moves 10 inches on screen

What BB_One said :)

A tip:

When playing FPS ( First Person Shooters ):
When in sniper mode, use the highest DPI setting.
You'll get more accurate shots, and...you'll score higher :D

In fire-fights ( which I usaully call...dog-fights ) use a moderate DPI Setting, so you can change your FOV really fast.

Edit: Enjoy your new mouse m8!

Edit 2: Oh yes! It was about time! Reverse the "highest" & "moderate" in this post :D

I think you would want a lower dpi for sniping, wouldn't you? I higher dpi would translate minute hand movements into large on screen movements.

I am a bit surprised no one mentioned Razer.

www.razerzone.com

I would suggest the Copperhead. One of the best mouse out there in my opinion. Best suited for both lefties and righties.

The Logitech G5 is pretty decent too.

For sniping, the lower the DPI the better it is.

For firefights, I would say put it on highest. ;)

Hey guys, just take the MX700 apart and clean it up, I took mine apart this morning and cleaned all the pins for the buttons and blew it all out with compressed air and Viola it works like new again. Just remove the battery cover and take the screw out under the batteries and remove the one under the lable at the upper right top corner. and the top comes off.

Good call Griff,:thumb:

Mine was scrolling on it's own just enough not to let my monitor power down. Cleaned out some dust from the wheel sensor area and all is well. Thought I had a virus or some such for a while activating the desktop every 6 minutes. It wasn't actually fully scrolling, just sort of jittering the screen I noticed finally on a scrollable page. Is scrollable a word???

My Razer Viper does the job for me...best mouse I ever owned...it is so good, I don't even have the need to check out their Copperhead model which is supposed to be the best mouse out there...well, actually since I need 64bit drivers which are not available for my Viper and because the software "makes" these mice what they are...dog-gonnit I'll just have to take the plunge now won't I...lol :D
