Something since day one, which I have not pursued. But owners of a DFI nf4 and raid 0 raptors (or sata drives for that matter in raid mode).

No IDE drives, please.

I have never had any HDD led activity when my raptors are active, I suspect that nf4 does not support led activity on Sata drives when in raid mode, maybe even when not in raid mode.

Can you share your experience please.

Do you have sata drives in none raid mode and do you get led activity when the disk is accessed, ( make sure it is not accessing your IDE drive now)?

Do you have Sata drives in raid mode and get led activity when the array is accessed?

Do you have raptors in raid mode and do you get HDD led activity?

(Maybe my led thingie is bunkers...if it works for you guys  )

Reason I ask is because on some sata controller led activity is present and on others it is not..so just need to triple check with this nf4.

Similary, one looses all SMART function when going in raid mode...argghhhh :irk:

On my nF4 SLI-D, I have a single Raptor 36GB in NON-raid mode, plugged into SATA1 - and yes I do get LED activity.

two raptors in raid 0, and like you never any harddrive activity since day 1.

I have 2 SATA drives (Seagate, not raptors) in RAID 0 on different NF4 board and do have LED w/ hard drive activity. I didn't at first, but swapped leads around on LED cable to motherboard and it fixed it.

Update

Well, mystery resolved. Small note that lead me to doubt about led activity on Sata drive, was the fact that if you read the DFI manual carefully, everytime HD led activity is mentioned it only reflects PATA (IDE) drive activity, not SATA.

Nor here or there, finally found the time to move my setup from my old case to a new one, initally same problem ~ went one step further and flipped the connector around and BINGO, led activity on Sata Drives in raid 0 mode.

In short, seems my hd led on my old case went southwards and nothing could revive it.

Wierd. I'm pretty sure it's the DFI board (at least in my case) as when I popped an Asus SLI Premium in the leds started working. Moved back to DFI... dead leds.

And even flipping the connector around, switching if you will positive to negative, same problem? Just to triple check, you are on pins 3 and 5 ?

If so, odd indeed. Wondering if there is some leds that maybe this will not support, hence maybe my old led is not bunkers....umm...dunno...odd, and sorry it is not working for you.

I'm back to running RAID0 on this nF4 SLI-D and I do get LED activity on RAID activity. Also, I spliced my Vantec EZ-SWAP2 removable SATA drive bay LED into the line for my regular case HDD LED's and they both work just fine.

On board SATA config:
SATA 1 & 2 RAID0 (2x36GB Raptors), LED activity yes
SATA 3 single 74GB Raptor (Vantec EZ-SWAP2), LED activity yes
SATA 4 currently not in use

yup, reversing the connectors gives me the same thing. I've gotten use to no led activity so it's no biggy.
