Holy Moly, just think of the monthly revenue it generates as subscriptions run $13/mo. to $15/mo. depending on your purchase plan.
Let's just say average that it is $14 x one million per month: $14 million per month to Blizzard, and that's only North America. There are millions more in other parts of the world:
"Since its North America debut, World of Warcraft has steadily grown in popularity around the world. Following launches in Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and Europe, World of Warcraft recently released in China on June 7, 2005 and quickly garnered over 1.5 million paying customers in its first month. Shortly after the China launch, World of Warcraft made its debut in Singapore. The game is currently scheduled to launch in the region of Taiwan later this year."

I am like that guy in my avatar, just sitting there losing sleep, gaining weight, not showering, neglecting family, friends, and work...and just burning in hard-core on this bottomless time pit called WoW...

LOL!
I have to put aside WoW because of school but, school is starting to level off so I will get back in soon. I didn't see this post two weeks ago because I was up to my eyeballs in college work. :help:
I have often thought of how much money blizzard must be making evey month. Then I think of all the bandwidth they need and the support staff and the this and the that....
I also wonder what people could get done if they didn't wast so much time. (Probably have a few Einsteins that may never amount to anything because of things like WoW.)

I would never pay to play a game on-line I already paid for when I bought it off the store shelf.

Very few are satisfied with the stand alone, play by yourself and after a week or so, all want to try their skills against the world, Free they shall be, money will be in the hosting!
Want to bootleg or warez the game. go right ahead...try to bootleg or warez a gaming account !!!!! :hide:

Interesting, never played that game but interesting just the same:
Excerpt:
Players of Blizzard's incredibly popular World of Warcraft are reporting the outbreak of a virtual plague that is spreading across major cities in the virtual land of Azeroth, infecting player characters at an alarming rate.
You dying or fell sick.....in the game of course. (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050921-5337.html)

Hmmm...that is actually pretty interesting...I haven't experienced this. I haven't played much lately either. But when I have played, I have been way out in the boonies solo questing so I guess I have steered clear of this.
Apparently they knowingly programmed a virtual disease (curse/spell) into the game-world, not knowing that through faulty code or whatever that the intended ill effects would live on outside the instance (dungeon) it was intended for, and spread like virus into the general gaming population...pretty cool.
