First of all the is not my board but it is a friends. The board is a rev 1.04 and seems not to like running @ 200 fsb. My friend bought an athlon 2800+ and after some burn in time at 10.5 x 200 with no errors in prime95 we started to play some games with the new cpu and after 10 minutes the games would freeze. This system has been up and running for a very long time with a athlon 1600 and zero stability issues. I am wondering if this board has problems running at 200mhz because it is an older revision.
The video card is a 9700 pro made by ati and he has 2x256 corsair cas2 pc 3200 rev 1.1 and like i said this system was stable at 133 mhz for a very long time. I did notice the northbridge heatsink seems to be kinda hot while running at 200 mhz but not very hot. And he is stable at 166 x 12.5 so at least he can run his new cpu at spec.

He just ordered a new heatsink and offcourse i recommended the swiftteck :) because the heatsink amd ships with there retail cpu's seems to be worse the the ones intel ships and intels suck:) His temps with the stock heatsink are like 55 under load and 42 idle and this was in a very cool ambient temperture. But i am sure a nice swifteck with a 92mm fan will fix this.

The goal with this chip is 11x200 and i would think it is very obtainable
with everything he has. If anyone has any info on the older asus nforce2 boards not being able to run at 200mhz can you please let me know. If 200 mhz is not gonna work the i guess i can still have some fun with that mutiplier at 166 mhz :)

Newest BIOS version?

I did install the latest bios, i believe it is 1006. After reading a few things in another forum it looks like 1004 maybe the better choice. By the looks of it people are having issues running at 200 mhz. I am starting to wonder if active cooling is needed on northbridge.

I am running the AMD retail heatsink with my Barton 2500+ at 2800+ with zero issues. I did mod the heatsink by sanding off the nickel plating, revealing the copper below, lapping to a mirror finish and applying AS3. Temps are 40 to 42 at 100% load (Seti.) So I disagree with your comment about the AMD retail sinks. Granted there are much better sinks on the market (Swiftec etc) but not all the retail ones are bad.

Sorry i should of not included all of AMD's stock heatsinks in my statement i should of just said that this particular heatsink sucks. Your lapped stock cooler seems to be working very nice and your temps are the goal we are trying to achive with the swifttech.

I'm using AMD Retail HSF on my duallies and they are some of the quietest I have found (plus I like having the three year warranty on my procs that reside on my servers :) ).

For effective cooling with quiet I recommend what I used on my nforce2 system that I had: The Zalman 6000Cu.

I forgot to mention.
About the locking up, here's a few things to consider for bios settings.

vdimm: 2.8v
vagp: 1.6v
memory is very important to get the correct timings, I was able to use 2,2,2,3 on my Abit but the Asus I had could never handle that.
vcore: default

Make sure that you are running at 1:1 ratio.

Pointreyes,

Thanks for the advice. The system is rock stable at @ 12x200 and the mem is running 1to1 at 2,3,3,6 all at delfault voltage. The swiftteck is cooling it very nicely but i think the fix came from using the 1006 bios instead of the 1007. I wish this was my system instead of a friends because the AMD unlocked multi is alot of fun:)
