A couple of weeks ago i bought a 3.06 and was upset by the overclock with my swiftek, i was @ 154 and that was the highest i could get stable. So i orderd a prometeia mach1 and recieved on monday :) it was kinda a pain to set up but the time spent is well worth the reward. The case itself not the lower cooling unit is average at best for what i paid. It just seems very cramped and the drive cage is very bogus. When i first attepted to boot it kept shutting down @ the 40 degree limit set by factory and it just did not have enough time for the cooling system to start working before it shut down. So it took aboutt 5 boot attempt before it started to cool and once that happened it went down to -33 in a minute or so.

I went into windows at default cpu speed and noted the temps and under a 100% load MBM read -22. SO after i made sure that nothing was going to blow up and my seal was good:) I rebooted and made a attempt @ 175 fsb and it would not post. So i tried 170 and it booted and i have been running stable at this speed @1.7 volts in bios and MBM reads 1.75 in windows. THe board i am Using is a GA-8inxp and i do love it, but i am wondering if the board is not hip too 175 because it looks like there is more cpu left. so my temps @ 3.9 gig are -8 full load and - 22 idle so this thing can handle some major heat. My bios does not like subzero temps and nethier does easy tune, needless to say my case speaker is unpluged.

system specs

GA-8inxp
3.06 @ 170 fsb
corsair xms 3200 @ 2,2,2,5
made by ATI 9700pro
f3 bios
and i did go out and get a antec 550 true controll and this psu rocks.

all these benckmarks are withe apps running in background and one right after the other so i am sure they could be better.

hey THUGS, didn't PJ have a 175(-ish) fsb issue when he had an 8INXP?

I think I saw it here (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=28&threadid=952568&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=arc), hope that helps;).

SUPERMEGAPHATDOPE overclock you've got there, samcolt:cool:

yep 175fsb was his max using a verified 200fsb chip.

if you look at the benchmark results in that thread I linked to, you'll notice that the performance stops improving after 166fsb. Have you noticed the same in your benchmark results? If so, another mobo, perhaps? My P4G8X did up to 194fsb with no problem, so there are GB boards which have proven capability of higher sub-200 fsb's.

the mem scores between 170 and 167 were not much but they were different by about 40 to 50 points, but there is the real difference in the cpu bench and that was around 500 in drystone and i broke 12000 in the last bench so this thing is a monster. but i did try to rule out the cpu as the limiting factor and it very well maybe. and my board is one of the early boards out i bought in january so there could be some issures with high fsb.
