Like the pc is going to be in my room the router is gunna be in the basement so the router has to go through down the hallway in the basement then up the stairs to my room I dunno if that will be called long distance? hehe

either one of those will pump the signal upstairs....
the first router you named is more flexible and can transmit on two bands...
The first Access Point uses the 2.4GHz radio band, supporting both the popular and inexpensive Wireless-B (802.11b) standard at 11Mbps, and the new, almost five times faster, Wireless-G (draft 802.11g) at 54Mbps. The second Access Point radio operates in the 5GHz band, and supports Wireless-A (802.11a) networking, also at 54Mbps.
If you buy that router I would suggest buying a linksys lan card as well...any G type is fine... if you are not picking up in person, then also shop it at NCIX.com... they have some sales on..

Ya Kev, that card should work fine with that router. As for dropping the signal, that all depends on how everything is setup, but you should be fine. :thumb:

The second one you posted is the same as what I use. I have not had any issues with it at all.
Also, the PCI NIC that you posted earlier will work great with it.
Not to try and confuse you, but I have found the external USB Adapters are very convenient to have. They just seem to be a little more flexible.
