From 280 and 1:1 to 290 1:1!!!!

I have struggled the last couple months getting my fsb to go over 280 fsb. I would not get anything stable above that with the setup that I had: 2.4c, 2x512gb OCZ 4000EL, using Intel SATA raid 0. Well, I had tried nearly every bios setting I could find, but nothing helped..

Then, I got some OCZ 4200 and it was EXACTLY the same! 280 no more no less. I chalked it up to a board limit at 1:1 for me. Well, I was wrong!

My 2.4 can do 301fsb and run some benches at 1.65 vcore, I am sure of that, so it was not holding me back...

I NEVER HAD DISABLED USB LEGACY in the bios! Don't know why I overlooked it so many times. I have read umpteen posts about it, but it was holding me back!

Soon as I set it to disabled, I booted right into windows at 290fsb and 2.85 vdimm. Now, grant it it was not stable yet. I am going to re-install the vdimm mod this weekend and see if it helps to get me stable. Sometimes it is just the little things that make the difference! LIke a little bios setting!

Hehe, nice PJ. I never use USB on my OC'd rigs - thanks to many many reading Thugrook's threads. Damn too much instability with them enabled. :)

dam and it takes me a prommy mach2 to get my poor 2.4C to 301fsb at 3:2 on P4C800-E :(

someone needs to send me a 2.4C that does 310fsb stock voltage on air :)

Glad its sorted your problem anyway m8 - Ive been following your progress and it was obvious youd hit a board limit, just pleased for you thatyou sorted it all out.

Well, I am not sure that my chip can handle that high 1:1 fsb. I was able to boot into windows again at 290, but nothing more. ProfessorFate has agreed to let me have his new CPU so I can test my memory some more......

I am not sure what I am going to do at the moment. I tried at 3.2 vdimm and it was a no go. I am at 3.0 vdimm now and was able to go from 280, 1:1 @ 3-4-4-8 to 280, 1:1 @ 2.5-4-4-7, so there was a little improvement.

is this mobo or chipset specific?

or is usb just plain weird across the board? never read any of thug's threads on this, or anyone's for that matter... but if it will get me past 155 fsb ( maybe different/better ram )... :)
