Anyone seen this? Team Japan has done some amazing things with the Dothans ;) New world records in super pi  These Dothan chips are doing some amazing things... by far the fastest cpu's going right now :hide:
After reading about these things for a while now, I got in touch with my "mailman" and he's going to bring me a Dothan es to play with :D

Can you "mail" me one too?
There is a contest out there for the highest % overclock. I am sure these have the potential.
Now the question is which one? Lower or higher clock and 400 or 533 bus?

LOL... I wasn't sure either and he asked which one I wanted...... I told him to just get me the fastest one he could find, preferably a 780 :thumb:

Did you see the memory on the one close to the bottom of the page..... 280fsb 1:1 2-2-2-5 :yikes:

You sure you want an M780? Sounds like he was using a M740ES (post #322)
by New Beetle...19s unpatched English PI at x13 multi with his M740
...but then he says M750 earlier (post #307)
EDIT: Sorry, it should be Dothan 750
Sadly all this was done with LN2.
Either way you take the M780ES and mail me the M765ES - hell I would be happy with a M755ES
BTW did you see this news (http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12644) about the price drop on the mobiles?

Like Tony said and I've read in several places ... get the 533 oc's better than the 400... plus depending on the mobo you're using can also decide which mem dividers are available .. got a 750/533 for 254.00 US .... good info here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=62366)

Isn't it ironic that a core based on the P3 is Intels "best" chip :)
Dual core based on these should be something special.
If Intel would just admit that P4 needs junking and develop these with a decent "home" chipset, then I could be interested for sure.

Intel invested to much into the p4 to drop it and pick up the better cpu on the results of couple benchmarks, they'll drive the p4 into the ground then jump on the dothan to ride out of the ditch.
But these dothans are awsome chips, wish they were mainstream chips and had good desktop chipsets.

Well if they would just make the mobo's w/ pci-=e slots avail. here in the us I think there would be much more ppl jumping on them. :)

Well, I have a Dothan, a Mobo with PCIe for Dothan and an adapter =)...

Dm.......... is that board a socket 775? It says 915p chipset on the box. I wasn't aware that there was an adapter made for socket 775.... if so that's great news :D

Ok... I just looked on Asus site and see that it's not 775. At least it will allow a PCIe video card... just wish it took DDR2 so I wouldn't have to buy more ram.. ;)

Boshuter, yep, it's based on i915P but with s478 interface. This is where Intel shines with their discrete Northbridge solution. Customers/enthusiasts can always mix and match technologies. Want LGA775 but still likes DDR and AGP, go with those P5P800 and other DFI motherboards. Want s478 but likes to plunge to PCIe, Asus P4GD1 will be the solution =)....

No inspiration? Feel free to send it my way I'll test it for ya. :mischeif:

Hahaha =)...well, I hope I can build it soon. I just don't have a good videocard for it so it's not taking off yet. Hopefully, I can plug in at least a 6600GT..

That's almost as ironic as the fact that it outperforms AMD's "flagship" FX57... :rotflmao: :hide:

Now let's see them make it a dual core :mischeif:
Did you get your ES?

Yep, I've had an 840 3.2es dual core sitting here on my desk for about 3 weeks. I'm in that "Grand Prix" on XS and can't change hardware until it's over and don't want to just stick it in for a little while then pull it back out to run the next bench. The contest will be over in another week.... then I'll put the DC in and see what happens :D
BTW: talked to the "mailman" last night and damned if I don't have another package coming... :D He's sending me a Dothan es, a 7800gtx, another 570 3.8es, and an X2 4400 :yikes: The 7800 and the X2 4400 will be put up for sale (well I am gonna play with the 7800 a little first).. the Intel stuff is mine.. ;)

I am green
So how do you run your memory? Something just hasn't clicked in my head (maybe too early and not enough coffee). With a 100 or 133 FSB what speeds or dividers are you using for your ram? Is it underclocked or can you use a higher divider and over clock the ram as well?

With the 875/865 mobo, you apply a ratio like 5:4 or 3:2 to slow mem down so you could keep OCing the fsb and CPU. With this new generation of mobo and DDR2, you apply a ratio to speed the mem up. They have an option of "DRAM Frequency" When set to "AUTO" it tracks with the fsb at a 1:1 ratio. When you go to "Manual" and are sitting at FSB 200 you will see options like DDR400/533/667/800. The first one is running your mem at 1:1. These numbers go up as you raise the fsb. But the ratio between them stays the same. For example the DDR800 will run your mem at a 1:2 ratio. So if my fsb is 200, my mem is trying to run at 400 (DDR800). If I set my fsb to 250, then my mem would be trying to run at 500 (DDR1000), It will always be a 1:2 ratio, but it goes up as the fsb goes up. You can't go slower than 1:1, but you can sure go faster.
