It was known as Longhorn but now its Windows Vista so what do you guys think of the upcoming new OS will it suck more ram then Windows XP and do you guys think if the OS is going to be worth getting? :?:

It will require more ram, cpu power, and graphics power than XP...yes. I am actually looking forward to seeing it in action once all the bugs are hammered out, well...most of them anyway. The desktop virtualization as well as some other features it is suposed to boast has me interested...

I've been playing with it since Thursday. So far I really like it and have not encountered any issues. The new interface looks slick.

What exactly are the benefits over XP? Im not up to speed on this OS. I do know I dont like the name. I thought they were getting sued anyway for using Vista??

Also, yes, I hear that the Vista name is somehow copyrighted. Anyway, it's the same thing as Longhorn, just a different name.

I get mine right from MSDN, but if you don't have a subscription, Bittorrent is the way to go.

I wish they hadn't removed a lot of the features they did...like the new file-system. Some of those features would have made it a lot better I think.

I'm interested as to what Microsoft has up it's sleeve (or is bluffing about) on this new release of Windows. I already don't like the name (Vista just seems dumb to me), and if it's going to hog more resources than XP, I'd like to see it perform as well as support (unlike a lot of missing drivers that XP Pro x64 has been suffering from)... especially with the movements into dual-core and 64 bit computing by intel and AMD. Effective multi-threading, multi-processing, and 64bit support starting from the OS first. Maybe I'm demanding a lot from an OS, but I feel we as consumers deserve it. Not to mention with the amount of software support Microsoft has, I'd like to be able to keep a windows machine running without having to replace all my computers with an alternative OS.
