I installed windows 2000 with sp4 to run some 3Dmark01 benches. I've always just used XP but everyone says 2k is significantly faster. I installed the os, chipset drivers, dx 8.1b, video card drivers (cat 4.12) and not much else except for cpuz, 3dmark01, super pi, ati tool, and the Asus utility to monitor sys temps, volts, etc. Well my results SUCK.... and that's putting it mildly  The system is very unresponsive and it seems like it's using a LOT of cpu for minor tasks. My superPi times are an embarassment, I got like 33sec with my cpu at 4.4ghz, I started to run a 32mb superPi and finally quit after about 5 passes and 15minutes :yikes: Can anyone tell me what happend? Is there something I need to install for a hyperthreaded cpu?........... anything at all, this is driving me nuts.. :hide:

How many CPU's show in task manger?

If it's not showaing all the CPU's, then it's chipset drivers, or under control panel, system, devices, computer, make sure it not UNIProcessor ACPI, it should be MULTIprocessor.

Thanks Hawk.... I'm on lunch right now and will boot that pc up this evening to see what it says. I think you are on the right track, it just acts like it's not using HT at all. I used the latest chipset drivers from Intel's site so they should be good. I'll take a look in task manager and device manager and see what I find.. :)

I think they have service pack 7 available for Win2K don't they? Maybe you should get the latest and greatest as it will have more support for newer hardware and newer drivers as well. Worht a shot I guess if things still are not working out as they should for ya... :yup:
