Hi,
I want to run a Dell PSU without a mobo, but apprently it is next to impossible due to their odd power supplies. is there a pinout or anything I can use for guidance?

How old is it? and do you have a model number?

I have a Dell PSU that I am using for bench testing stuff. I used google to find this pin layout (http://members.csolutions.net/dougm/images/dell/plugatx.htm) for my model.
I jumped pins #11 and #12 and attached something to draw some power to turn on the PSU. In the diagram the wire for pin #11 is brown but on mine the wire is grey.
Cheers.

Typically I use a jumper to connect PS-on to any ground ( common ). Usually just a paper clip will do. Most ATX PSU the PS-On is green.

 egleitch. Seems Dell psu can come in a variety of colours but then again what can you expect from a proprietary hardware
BTW have you seen this forum (http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44)
