I have this (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=000372&cid=NT.489) one Kev. Works fine for my wife's laptop, she's the only wireless customer on my LAN  .
The girls and I hard-wired so we don't access the wireless part of it, but it has 4 LAN cable inserts on it so it can go both ways - wireless & wired.

I have had a D-Link for 2 1/2 years with no problems. Linksys or D-Link, either way is good.

Hey Kev, forgot to ask my mom about getting you hooked up with my old wireless cable modem/router. Comes with 3 USB wireless adaptors and the modem...all Linksys.

Kev, I got the same Linksys that joeMan has, it works great. Both the kids have connections through the wireless and my son also runs his XBox with no problems.
I did change out the antennas for a little better signal strength but all works great.

Experience with 3 Linksys WRT54G/WRT54GS here as well.....all run flawlessly.
I like the Alchemy firmware flash too. :mischeif:

Hmmm well does the stock antennas work good I am just hooking up my pc in my room which 1 floor up from where the routher will go. Does the router come wif a PCI network adapter?

The router didn't come with a PCI card, I just picked up a couple of these (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=c%3DL_Product_C2%26cid%3D1115416828445&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper) for the kids, they don't need a fast connection.
If you want faster I'd go with one of these two

The stock antennas did work Ok, however, my son had some connection losses every now and then. His room is up stairs at the furthest point away from my computer room. My house is pretty big, so his room is maybe 60 Ft from the router, through several walls and the ceiling
Also as a tip, if you have a cordless phone that operates at 2.4GHz, it can interfere with the wireless connection. I have since upgraded all my phones to 5.8GHz

I have the EXACT same wireless USB adapters as you Rotorhead...not too fast (1.5mps at most)...but for basic surfing and browsing they work fine. Kev, if I can sell you my stuff, what youll want to do is connect directly (through CAT5) to the modem and wirelessly hook the rest of the PC's up through the USB wireless ports. Directly connecting to the modem enables you to have the fastest connection on the network, I usually got 8-10mps.

Thats the prob man I am the one thats moving the computer so I guess I wont have the fast connectiong I am guessing?

Kev, if you get a PCI or USB network adapter that uses the 802.11g it will have up to 54Mbps. It will still be way faster then your actual cable/DSL connection to the internet. You won't notice any differance in your connection as compaired to connecting directly to the modem.

Hey guys it's me again talking about the wireless routers well my dad is buying a new computer soon he wants the dual cpu cores so dual processors . I told him to get it but its intel though hes not a gammer so no big deal if anyone is interested in its specs then ask by the way its a premade pc not custom. Ok down to the point we need a wireless router I know we talked about this already but I just wanna make sure should I get this 1 and tell me if it is good from the basment to a floor up which will be in my room. Here is the url to the router I am interested in and will it come wif a labtop wireless card aswell or should I have to buy 1 cuz its not included? Click here for Router info (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=006939&cid=NT.489)

I have a 2WIRE brand wireless router. Very secure wireless as you must plug in a WEP # to gain access to the network wereas most others I`ve seen/tryed were wide open to allow anyone to connect.
There too, there is no opening ports for diffrent applications, unless you want to go old school. You simple go to the router setup page, pick a machine on the network, and pick from a list what app/game you want it to host and it will automaticly open the right ports. I`ve hosted 2k4 games with 1 machine with like 5 people from the net playing, done a security scan from another machine at DSL Reports while the game is going and it still comes back 'stealth'.

The 2WIRE (http://www.2wire.com/?p=112)you need to buy an adapter. Not sure how it works, but they also claim they can send the network through the phone line throughout your house too instead of using CAT5. But I would imagine that`s going to take some sort of a PCI card on each machine as well.
The one you linked to can be made secure.....I think....somehow manually.

Well as for the wireless phones is there some sort of speed to the phones that can interfer<-- I cant spell hehe as for my cordless phones there 900 mhz so will that mess up with the wireless connection? I wanted to get the linksys router that I showed because the store near me has it as for the 2wire thing you showed me I dont like purchasing online so I dunno wut store would have that product. Would that linksys router be good enough though or nahhh? I'm so confused lol :bonk:  :help:

You should be fine with the 900Mhz phones.
From the link you posted, it doesn't look like that router comes with a PCI card
