Hey I think my dads labtop's LPT1 port is either messed up or there is something else wrong I dont know about. Can it be the computer hardware is failing because our house was REAL HOT and the labtop has poor cooling so then when we got air condition working I noticed something was wrong. Either the printer is messed up or the computer's hardware is messed up someone help please I'll appricate it.

I would uninstall the software completely, delete the printer foder. Try reinstalling again. Also make sure the printer port is working properly in Device manager. Check to make sure the cables hooked up properly and are working.

Kev, start at the beginning. Go into BIOS and make sure the port you're physically trying to plug into is actually enabled and configured correctly (Of course this is assuming the printer itself isn't the problem.).

Once you've eliminated hardware as the cause, move to software (system/device mgr.) and make sure the laptop is seeing the printer and that the drivers are installed correctly and all that jazz. If not, then focus there. If so, then check that this printer is set as default in control panel.
