Hawk, our portable storage aficionado, reviews the 2GB JumpDrive from Lexar.

Will this "thumb drive" get a thumb's up?

Read the review and find out. (http://www.bleedinedge.com/reviews/storage/lexar_lightning_2gb/lexar_lightning_2gb_01.html)

Certainly enlightning, did not see a mention of price and price comparaison to similar quality/speed rated products.

Guess, I'll put this one down on the possible acquisition list once I see what OCZ's products turns out to be and if it is as complete as this one seems to be and how both compare $ wize.

Thank you for this very informative review. :thumb:

Hmmm, thought the price was in there. . .

The 2GB unit was $279 at the time of the writing. If you look at the graphs, it's compared to the first revision of the lexar Jumpdrive which was half the lightninings speed. Also, there are no units rated at those speeds yet.

I will be comparing these devices to the new OCZ Rally drive. ;)

Just rechecked and unless I am blind hence why I am knowned as BlindBat, did not see a price in the review, but thank you for clarifying that tidbit.

But, $279.00 US dollars for 2 GIG.....ummm,,,let's hope this comes down a little more. Although not as fast granted, I have seen 2 Gig units selling for way cheaper then that, and still faster then a floppy drive.

Way cheaper I mean like $75.00 US dollars for 2 Gigs, hence hard press to justify $250.00 + for speed. When I would think even at lower speed they would still be faster then a floppy.

Comments, suggestions, am I looking at this the wrong way ?

No, depends on your budget, and also if the speed is what you want, that is what you are really paying for. Where you see the real advantage is when you have a copy a CD or large files to the device. The ones that you can get for $75 dollars take at least 2X as long to copy the files. If you have the patiance, go for it. I like to click and be done. . . .
