Ok I have a raptor that I only had 3DM03 on every time in the same part of the same test it would hang and give me an error message. I uninstalled 03 and installed 05 on the drive. Now when I run 05 again same test about the same time a hang and it's lost. I have heard of bad sectors (not sure what they are exactly :hide: ) Could this be my problem?

Nope mate.
Almost impossible to install a new program, and havin' it's data written exactly on the same sector as your previous file uninstallation.
You can check your HDD with HDD Life & Scan Disk, but you'll probably come back with a 100% percent working disk.
I'd start checking some other components ( RAM / CPU Temps / VGA Temps )

I also have a IDE drive I use for 3DMark01. I ran at identical settings nothing at all had problems. Cpu was only slightly overvolted 1.65 gpu from 1.308 to 1.55 and run on cold water. GPU never broke 40C and cpu I am sure was low also. When I had problems I switched bk and ran more on the IDE with no carshes or freezes at all. :coocoo:

Hm a new idea!
Maybe the HDD fail after some "pressure".
So I'd run Disk Speed 32 v3 from Victor Grinenko.
It'll test all your hard drive, in ...deep down & dirty way :D
If you can't find the program, PM me, I'll upload it at my FTP for ya.

No, the stance has no effects.
Vertical or Horizonal = the same... [ I hope your not using a Quantum ELS Pro back in the 80s drive :D ]

No got a IDE WD I load w/ 2k1 and 3DM01, one raptor for XP and 3DM05, another raptor XP and 3DM03. The raptor is the prob. :)

Actually I am not positive. I have 2 raptors currently loaded and both have an issue. The one crashed everytime in the same spot on firefly with an error but I think it was 03 so I uninstalled and loaded 05 and evertime same point on the planes it freezes. I backed waaaay down on the OC both cpu and gpu and same situation. The other one I just can't seem to even load all the drivers after installing OS it keeps restarting. I have only tried sata ports 3 & 4 maybe 1 & 2 are ok? One of them is the raptor I got from ya but not sure which. I have a 3rd I may give a go this weekend. Maybe it's a mobo issue. :look:

mobo for sure, lol
I could never bench high wiht the 36gig raptors they are not like the 74's never have been. even still on the locked pci buses they have issues it seems. great for day to day use for sure, but they are not benching material..
I still use a prmoise pci card for my sata needs tho so maybe that is fully locked :)

Hmmm maybe I'll give either the card a try or I have another dfi NF4 that's good but has a bulging cap. Maybe I'll attempt to pull the cap off my dead board and replace it. :)

hint for the cap break the bad one off ok
next use a 1/64th drill bit or a tiny drill bit and drill the holes out and then add the new cap.

Think I finally solved it. Just went to sata again and tried every port. First it crashed right after a dl. Next it was freezing on start screen. Sometimes crashing right when xp loaded. Finally I switched and used the second power cable from the psu and it didn't turn off till I told it to this time. :D
