If you're in the market for Corsair 3500LL (Low Latency), which performs VERY well on the new Canterwood and Springdale chipsets, I have discovered something that will interest you. www.outpost.com is now selling Patriot-EX 3500LL memory for $109.95 per 512MB stick. This IS Corsair 3500LL - the same Winbond BH5 chips, the same CAS2 rating, the same 6-layer PCB with the "Alpha-Omega" ID, the same performance, and the same lifetime warrnaty. Consider it Fry's (Outpost) Private-Label Corsair 3500LL.
NewEgg still wants $165 or so for the 3200LL variety, and this faster 3500LL is less than $110. Order online up to midnight EDT and you can also have 2 sticks in your hands the next morning for $7.95 overnight shipping. See it at http://shop2.outpost.com/product/3630195 or www.patriotmem.com
The SAME Winbond BH5 chips are also available in HardCore Cooling's DDR466 with Winbond chips for $98 a 512MS stick. It is also a 6-layer PCB but not identical to the Corsair. Ground shipping is $5.95 for any number of sticks from Connecticutt. See it at http://www.hardcorecooling.us/product.asp?0=200&1=201&3=427
So how does it perform. DDR400 at 2,5,2,2 to 2,6,2,2 with PAT and turbo ON, and BOTH sets make it to 236 to 238 (DDR472-476) at 2,7,3,3, timings at 2.8 to 2.85 vDimm.

Of course, the first thing I've gotta ask....how the heck did you discover that? :eyepop: :-) Nice find....;)

I suspected from the limited info, ordered it, and removed the heat-spreaders to check. I had read that Fry's was setting up a Private Label arrangement with Corsair a few weeks ago - so this is apparently it.

How high can you get them to run at 2-2-2-7, Prometheus?:)

To be honest, most of my better memory can do 2,5,2,2-4 or 2,6,2,2-4 at DDR400, but on ANY canterwood/Springdale I find it next to impossible to run at 2,x,2,2 at anything over DDR400. The problem is RAS to CAS delay with PAT/MAM, which normally requires 3 above 400 with PAT (or MAM Enabled).
So I'm running 2x512 of the Patriot-EX as I type this - at DDR440 2,5,2,3-4 with MAM Enabled. It may still go higher at those timings, but since it's rated at 2,7,3,3 at DDR433 I consider that GREAT performance. As I already stated I have run this Dual-Channel at DDR478 2,7,3,3 so far.

nice! so what would you consider to be your best RAM on the P4P800? only asking since I have mine on the way and have to buy some more;)...

The best memory is always subject to change. Right now the Patriot-EX (Corsair 3500LL) is slightly in the lead, but basically the same as the HardCoreCooling DDR466 Winbond. Both of these are hand-picked Winbond BH6 chips. I also have found OCZ3500EL to go to about the same overclock at the smae timings - but it requires slightly higher timings at slower speeds. All 3 of these do DDR466 at 2,7,3,3.

Not to be equivocal, but aren't the chips on the sticks you specified BH5 chips?;)

Yes, they are all BH5 - corrected in post. Also just ran a Sandra unbuffered bench of over 3300 with the Patriot-EX at 2,2,3,6 2.85v at DDR476. I really think I can hit DDR480 after a few days of burn-in.

Ram Guy at Corsair last week confirmed that they are about to start shipping 3500 LL. He had been hinting about something faster for 2 to 3 months. I was hoping for 3700. Oh well . . .

Yeah, I was hoping Corsair would finally come out with 3700s, but I guess we have to wait longer or go with another brand. I could care less about LL type ram right now. :smash:
Corsair are releasing 3700 very soon...stay tuned for a review of either this or the 3500twinX

Outpost.com is sold out of the ex-Patriot PC3500LL, not expecting another shipment for another 7-10 days:(
Oh well, guess TwinMOS PC3200 CH5 will have to do:D

I wish you look with the CH5..from what i have been seeing its NOT the memory of choice at the moment.I would have waited for the PC3500LL to come back in stock.

I really appreciate such good info on reasonably priced memory! I currently am planning on building a system around the P4P800 Deluxe and have ordered the Ex-Patriot memory that was mentioned at the start of this thread.
It did take a long time for me to get a beginning grasp on what the memory timings signify and how they are presented by various people. (Why is it so difficult to find a brief explanation of this on the web?) I now realize that Precharge Delay is sometimes qouted second and sometimes forth. The other three are always in the same order. (right?) :)
Thanks again!

Info (http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46159&highlight=patriot+memory) over at the abxzone.com boards says that the Patriot memory is not Corsair, but is instead generic PDP memory.
I already have mine, so I hope that the memory, whatever it is, works well for me in my new P4P800 system.

Thanks for asking! 'll tell you as soon as I put it together. I'm still waiting for parts, so it could be awhile. (I put things together quite slowly.) :)

I'm trying to put the system together, and the Patriot Memory turned out to be the factor that was preventing the new system from even displaying post. One stick of the 512 MB 3500 is evidently bad, so I am currently running on the other stick. I'll have to contact Outpost.Com to see what I can do about this. I'm not sure that I want to keep either stick at this rate.
[Edit: Outpost does not seem to carry in stock the 512 MB 3500 Patriot memory, so they told me to return both sticks for a refund even though I was willing to get a replacement.
I went ahead and ordered a set of 512 MB 3500 memory sticks from hardcorecooling.]

Just return it (Outpost's RMA is the best!) and get some TwinX3700:wave:

I'd be careful doing that-some bad news regarding the XMS3700. :(
http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=48768&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
In summary, the 3700 is using -5ns Samsung chips and only the loose timings are working. The OCZ3700 Gold appears to still be the current reigning king of DDR.

To make a long story short, I've ended up with a Dual Memory Kit set (2 x 512) of CAS2 Winbond 3200 from hardcorecooling. They had it in stock and shipped it the same day I ordered it. (Their 3500 set had a $70 price increase.)
I may not be able to overclock much, but the memory has had no problems under normal operation so far (which is what I really wanted). The memory looks real sharp (copper heat shields), unlike the Patriot memory I got which had worn labels on the packing.
Oh well. :)
