Looking for a good, preferably free, screen capture utility. Any suggestions?

Its called pressing the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard and then going into MSPaint then CTRL+V to paste the image. For ingame screen capturing use FRAPS.

Thanks, but was looking for something that saves the image as JPEGs. BMPs are a hassle.

I use print screen with paint all the time. Press <alt><prn scrn> to capture the window shot only (not the whole screen) and paste into paint. In paint you can save as a jpeg. Simplest utility around for cropping and resizing.

Thanks AV and Snafu. I was trying it at work, and Paint on Windows 2000 on US Navy computers does not have option to save as jpegs. Works great at home. :thumb:

NP - kinda ironic that you're surfing (the net) in the Navy

Do they have any other program that you coudl use that may let you save as a jpeg? Never tried Adobe before but I know I can convert pdf to jpeg in teh adobe I have at work (I have a full version not just the reader)

Not sure. I was just mainly wanting to capture screen shots at home.
