Dumb question time again!

Hey guys, its the newbie yet again...
Ok.. i am totally confused about ram for the P4c800-e Deluxe mobo.

If I dont get something off of the asus qvl, will that mean the ram will not work in it? I have no intention of overclocking my machine at all with my 2.4c processor... yet.. Right now i just want to get it to work.
Will generic ram work in this thing.. and will i actually notice a difference if it was 2700 or 3200.. etc.. (no idea what those numbers mean)

Yes, if you are not planning on overclocking your system, then generic pc3200 will work fine.

Just to clarify for you pc3200 = ddr400, and pc2700 = ddr333. You want your system to run at ddr400 settings with an 800fsb cpu such as a P4 2.4C you are planning on getting. You could run pc2700 and use the built-in memory ratios of 5:4 with the motherboard, but prices of the two ram shouldn't be too different.
